Where to find what glasses are trendy
2+ hour, 39+ min ago (91+ words) It's time for me to get new glasses (eyeglasses). I've had very similar ones for at least since Covid, and want to know what styles/sizes/colors (or not!) are in right now. What online sources/blogs, people to follow on Insta, Pinterest pages, etc do people look at to find trends for this kind of thing?I don't know how relevant this is to my question, but I'm a mid-40s woman working in an industry that's very male-dominated and blue-collar. [IDFilter] Does this cat jacket still exist?
1+ week, 6+ day ago (119+ words) I came across this photo of a cat in a stroller, dressed in a cozy-looking jacket, and now want to find this exact jacket, or a similar one. What keywords should I use to find it? Snowflakes inside! The jacket has what looks to be a fairly large fleece-lined hood, and wide fleece-lined sleeves. Or at least I think they're sleeves. They might just be the front of the jacket draping over the cat's legs. The photo is almost a decade old, so more than likely the jacket is long discontinued. Attempts to reverse-search the image only yielded results for the stroller itself, but nothing about the jacket. [IDFilter] Does this cat jacket still exist?...
Looking for a wardrobe stylist/personal shopper in NYC for my husband
2+ week, 2+ day ago (131+ words) Husband's birthday is coming up and he'd mentioned wanting to have a more stylish "East Coast" capsule wardrobe (as we're moving to NYC from the Southwest.) Should I just set an appt with Bloomingdales/Nordstrom shopper or is there a specific menswear store or expert you'd recommend instead? Ideally want a fun 2 hour experience for him that ends with him walking out with an armful of shopping bags, Pretty Woman style.I know 1K isn't much, but no suits needed at least! Maybe a jacket/vest, a couple shirts, pair of new pants, scarf, etc. But he'll want it to make him look good. He's a bigger guy though so that will need to be taken into account. I Oughta Know how to pull off this look
2+ week, 5+ day ago (120+ words) My partner has to attend a murder mystery party in character and in costume as Alanis Morrisette. How?Obviously we know who Alanis Morrisette is. Had a copy of Jagged Little Pill back in the day, love singing her stuff at karaoke. Great. But we're having trouble putting our fingers on an iconic image of Alanis that we can reproduce to make my partner instantly recognisable. What do you think of as her signature look? How would you put together a costume for it? The party has a '90s icons theme so it should be a look from that decade, and we're in the UK in case that makes a difference. I Oughta Know how to pull off this look...
8xl heavy flannel shirts. Some say they make them, who's not lying?
1+ week, 3+ day ago (53+ words) I'm looking for heavy weight cotton flannel shirts, like LL Bean or Woolrich, but in size 8xl. I've tried the stuff from King Size, what they call heavy weight is lighter than cotton underwear. Google lists 100's of sites, all lies. 8xl heavy flannel shirts. Some say they make them, who's not lying?...
Recommendations for girl’s leggings?
2+ week, 1+ day ago (104+ words) I need to purchase some girl's leggings and proving more complicated than I thought, dohThis gift is charitable, so I don't have any visual reference, nor personal experience this century. I'm looking for a girls's size 14, for an 8yo. There's no price guidelines; I was thinking 2 or 3 pairs for $60ish? Any brand recommendations? I'd prefer durable, not full of microplastics, and easy-care. Also, it seems like a size 14 isat the top of the range? I'd hate for the leggings not to fit her; are there brands that have a wider size range? Thank you! Recommendations for girl's leggings?...
Best light tshirts for layering?
2+ week, 1+ day ago (161+ words) So in the interests of perfect comfort in my chilly house, I would like to buy several very lightweight tshirts to wear under shirts and sweaters. However!I'd like them to be the kind of tshirts you can wear on their own, not obvious undershirts or sports/gym shirts. I'd also like them to feel like cotton and probably to be mostly or all cotton. I'd like them to have short sleeves. Recommend me your recommendations from the zillionaire's sea island cotton to the, the not that. I don't truly plan to spend one hundred American dollars or something but there are always sales. I probably don't want merino, because the goal is to provide just a tiny sliver of additional warmth, not to make me a lot warmer. Fit advice is good, too - because these are for layering, I…...
Washable, yet stylish men's shirts?
1+ day, 20+ hour ago (48+ words) What it says on the tin. My middle-aged husband wants some "non-T-shirt" shirts for the holidays. I'm looking for machine washable, tall fit, and not fast fashion. Something more interesting than one solid color, please! Bonus for short sleeved options. Washable, yet stylish men's shirts?...
1+ week, 6+ hour ago (365+ words) On a seemingly never-ending quest for the perfect work bag. Perfect means...1. Please only give me your actual lived experience. I can go online and find bags that meet all of my requirements (and boy have I!) but I do not know if those bags are durable! Will the zipper break after a month? Will there be hanging threads, indicating poor construction? Will the bag break down a month after completely normal everyday use? I need to know that you or someone you know has used this bag on the daily and it holds up. 2. TOTES ONLY. Not messenger, not backpack. Can be vertical or horizontal. 3. Leather or vegan "leather." Or MAYBE a nice fabric, like a tweed or something substantial. NOT "performance" or vinyl or linen or cotton or canvas. Well...maybe oiled canvas if the bag has a…...
What kind of traction cleats do I want for walking on mixed surfaces?
1+ week, 3+ day ago (158+ words) I need to buy a pair of traction cleats to use this winter and I'm not sure what type to get.I won't be walking super long distances in them (just out and about, from the car to my destination mostly, especially on slippery days). The sidewalks I'm going to be walking on won't be sheets of glare ice, but likely areas where there is concrete or asphalt that's bare. By the time I get to these sidewalks they've usually been shoveled, sanded, salted, etc., but not always (sometimes I'm early). I'll need a pair that won't be destroyed by walking on concrete and it sounds like some pairs don't do very well on concrete. I know Yaktrax are usually the go-to, but they have so many different types. There must be other brands I don't know about, too. What…...
